Vanessa Yakobson

“Never allow life’s challenges to stop you from reaching for the stars.” That is the mantra Vanessa Yakobson lives by. After battling and beating childhood cancer, Vanessa believes it gave her a new sense of drive and determination to chase all of her dreams. One of those dreams: Running her own business someday.

“I just had this deep sense of knowing that this was an experience that I was meant to go through. And that I would learn from it and come out the other side. Somehow at the age of 13. It came to me that it’s not what you’re faced with in life, but how you deal with it that matters.”

Luke Iorio

As a former CEO, now turned entrepreneur, Luke Iorio knew he was burned out. He went in search of what matters, and in the process, found himself.

“I just recognized that I had strayed far from what I considered to be the center of who I really was, and that I was going to do whatever I needed to to take that road back again…”

Luke left his role as CEO, and gave himself the space and clarity, he says, he needed to recreate his next chapter. His private coaching practice focuses on guiding men to live their best life.

Kristen Standish

“Be authentic, get behind something you love and are passionate about.” That is the mantra  Kristen Standish lives by. She is an accomplished leader in driving sales for a variety of media ventures over her entire career. But in 2021, she recreated herself with her next chapter, and started her own business. Her passion for female founders was the impetus behind the launch of RazHer collaborative.

“It’s all about coming together and finding a way to raise other business professionals up. As a founder, and an older founder, I realized there were so many of my contemporaries out there that…needed access…And I was like, “You know what, why don’t I create somewhat of an incubator…”

Jean Oelwang

Some of the most successful people in the world have a superpower. It’s not their expertise, nor their experience. In fact, it’s something that we can all create to live a meaningful life: deep connections and partnerships. For 15 years, Jean Oelwang had a ringside seat into how partnerships create success. She interviewed dozens of world leaders and influential people, Nelson Mandela, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Richard Branson, to name a few.

“I feel like when we grow up from the time we’re born, we’re kind of pushed to feel like we have to get the gold star, we have to be the number one. So we’re pushed into this sense of hyper- individualism. And I really feel that that’s at the root cause of many of the issues that we have in the world right now. And it’s not our natural state, as human beings, we need to be hyper connected…”

Meet Jean, hear her incredible stories and learn from her experiences with her book Partnering: Forge the Deep Connections That Make Great Things Happen.

Scott Harrison, founder and CEO of Charity: Water, is here to tell you that redemption is possible and together, we’re following his journey of second chances which now involves saving millions of people’s lives all around the world.

“…I wound up selling everything I owned, and deciding to kind of give one year of the 10 years I’d wasted in service to others…I was very fortunate that one organization said if I was willing to pay them $500 a month, and if I was willing to go live in the poorest country in the world, which at that time was post-war, Liberia, West Africa, then they would take me and I said, ‘Great, here’s my credit card number…’”

Join me, and Charity: Water, in our season of giving goal to build a well. I have committed to matching every donation (up to $2,500) in order to bring the gift of clean water to Charity: Water’s next project. You can share your gift at charitywater.org/bestlife.

Learn more about my campaign, Scott, and Charity: Water through Scott’s book Thirst: A Story of Redemption, Compassion and a Mission to Bring Clean Water to the World at charitywater.org/bestlife.

Andrea Owen

Andrea Owen says that after hitting rock bottom, she believed that life was tapping her on the shoulder and asking something more of her. And she went in search of that “more”. Today, she’s a certified life coach, best-selling author, podcast host and speaker.

“…At the end of the day, the thing that I walked away with was that I had for decades been hoping that I could find my happiness and my confidence and all the love in the world, from other people.
